Signal recently addressed a security flaw in its desktop app that stored encryption keys in plain text, making encrypted messages vulnerable if an attacker had access to the device. The issue, identified in 2018, was largely dismissed by Signal until recent criticism on social media reignited the discussion. Signal has now implemented enhanced security using Electron's SafeStorage API to better protect user data. While this is a significant improvement, concerns about the initial delay in addressing the flaw remain.
